The Syrian MiG-17Fs usually shared the same colours with the MiG-21s as displayed by aircraft 1196. This machine is believed to have been among a shipment from East Germany following the Six-Day War. Although badly dated by 1973, the MiG-17 still dominated the strike squadrons of the SyAAF alongside a small number of Su-7BMKs. (Artwork by Tom Cooper)
