Alongside the Su-7 was the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17F, strike aircraft common to the Egyptian and Syrian air forces. While the Sukhoi was updated, the MiG remained a generation removed from the then-current class of fighter-bombers. This UARAF No. 62 Squadron machine is typical in its small size and equally small weapons load of a few bombs and rockets delivered with modest accuracy over short range. Its agility could make it a tough target for Israeli interceptors, but many were shot down by these and ground-based air defences. (Artwork by Tom Cooper)
