All 12 Rhodesian Hunter FGA.Mk 9s were originally delivered in the standard RAF day fighter finish consisting of dark green, dark sea grey on upper surfaces, and high-speed silver on undersides. Starting in 1968, they began receiving a camouflage pattern originally consisting of dark green and dark earth on upper surfaces, and sky S on undersurfaces. By the mid-1970s, dark earth was extended to undersurfaces and all national markings and serials removed, as shown on this artwork of the Hunter FGA.Mk 9 serial number R1821 (former XG295/RRAF121). Standard armament included four 30mm ADEN cannons installed internally, and four launch rails for Hispano Suiza HS.80 80mm rockets or 6in (127mm) unguided rockets under each wing, illustrated here: the installation of the latter could be extended into a total of 24 rockets, with ‘banks’ of three rockets under each rail.
