PR.19 PS888 of 81 Squadron carried out the RAF’s last operational flight by a Spitfire, from Seletar on April 1, 1954. The wording ‘The Last!’ was applied on its cowling after it had touched down from the historic sortie. Two months later, PS888 was transferred to the Royal Thai Air Force. PETE WEST
