This Spitfire LF.Mk.IXe arrived in Israel during the Operation Velvetta, wearing standard RAF camouflage colours – consisting of ocean grey (FS16187) and dark green (BS381C/641) over medium sea grey (BS381C/637) – and full markings of No. 101 ‘First Fighter’ Squadron. Originally serialled 2003, it received a large identification number 12d (possibly applied in yellow, instead in white) on the rear fuselage, while at Hatzor AB, in December 1949.
