By February 1946, as additional Ki-43s were recovered and repaired, no less than 30 were in service with the Armée de l’Air’s GC I/17 and II/17, both of which were based at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, outside Saigon. By this time, the dark green colour was usually completely removed, though many received underwing hardpoints for bombs calibre 30kg. (Artwork by Jean-Marie Guillou)
