F/A-18C Hornet BuNo 163508 of VFA-81, USS Saratoga (CV-60), Red Sea, January 1991 - Lt Cdr (later Vice Admiral) Mark Fox had an eventful opening day of the war in this aircraft, downing an IrAF MiG-21 on his first sortie of January 17 and then firing three HARM in support of VA-35's night strike on H-3. According to Fox, “a typical load-out for a dedicated Hornet HARM shooter was an asymmetric dual drop tank configuration and three HARM – drop tanks on the centerline pylon and right inboard underwing pylon, with two AGM-88s on the two left underwing pylons and a single AGM-88 on the right outboard underwing pylon. That was how ‘Sunliner 401’ was configured on the night of January 17”.'
