For operations in Libya, Sudan, and the CAR, operatives of the Wagner PMC were equipped with Chekan MRAPs. Based on the chassis of the Ural 4320 general purpose off-road 6x6 truck, and also known as ‘Wagner Wagon’, the Chekan is meant to serve as an infantry fi ghting vehicle with armour protecting against bullets and fragments. Checkans were further equipped with conical BPU-1 turrets (as used on the BTR-60PB APC and BRDM-2 reconnaissance vehicle) mounting a 14.5mm KPVT heavy machine gun with coaxial 7.62mm PKT machine gun as a secondary weapon.
