MiG-21bis (L-17), serial number 17163, of the 123rd Fighter Squadron of the 83rd Fighter Regiment at Pristina Air Base had served in this unit since 1990. It is shown in interceptor configuration, armed with R-13M (ASCC/NATO-codename ‘AA-2c Atoll’, inboard underwing pylon) and R-60MK (outboard pylon) air-to-air missiles – in which it was evacuated from Pristina AB to Batajnica AB during the afternoon of 11 June 1999. In 2006, this MiG-21, No 17163 was the first aircraft to receive new Serbian Air Force markings. (Artwork by Tom Cooper)
