The Mi-25 was probably the best-known helicopter gunship in IrAAC service during the war with Iran. At least two batches of 12 helicopters each were delivered to Iraq, one in 1980 (known serials in the range 2110–2119) and another in 1984 or 1985 (serials in the range 4493 and upwards). All were camouflaged in the standard pattern for Mi-25s exported to a number of foreign customers, including Afghanistan, Libya, Nicaragua and Mozambique, and consisting of yellow sand and green on upper surfaces and sides, and light admiralty grey (BS381C/697) on bottom surfaces. Their 9M17P Falanga (AT-2 Swatter) anti-tank missiles were usually painted in dark olive-green. Other frequently deployed armament consisted of UB-32-57 pods for 57mm unguided rockets.
