This MiG-23BN was operated by al-Abraq-based No. 1070 squadron from 1976 until 2003 (it was found abandoned at this base in March 2011). Like all other MiG-23s delivered to Libya in the 1970s and 1980s, it was painted along the same standardised camouflage pattern, and received a four-digit serial number in black on the front fuselage and the fin. It is shown armed with UV-16-57 rocket pods for sixteen 57mm rockets.
