In 1933, Peru ordered six Fairey Fox IVs, a combat-capable development of the Fox II equipped with a Kestrel IIS engine and floats. While these were delivered too late to take part in the Putumayo conflict, they eventually saw service in the maritime reconnaissance role with the 71 Escuadrilla de Información Maritima (Maritime Information Escadrille) until December 1940, when this unit was disbanded and its aircraft pressed into service with the recently activated 72 EIT.
