Seven North American NA-50 fighter bombers were purchased in late 1938 to equip the newly formed XXI Escuadrón de Caza. The NA-50 was a development of the NA-16 trainer fitted with a more powerful engine and retractable landing gear. It carried a pair of .30 calibre machine guns as well as underwing racks for light bombs. (Artwork by Luca Canossa)
