The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was introduced into service in 1941 and became a good alternative to the Flying Fortress in the heavy bomber role. The example shown, a B-24D, belonged to the 11th Air Force and after Operation AL regularly appeared over Kiska and Attu, harassing the Japanese positions on both islands.
