The Folland Gnat was designed as 3 private venture Light Fighter concept with s tiny size being easier and cheaper to make than other et fighters. ‘The RAF did not want a new fighte, but several counlriesliked the .1 including Finland.Inda, and Yugoslavia. But the RAF did want a new fast jt trainer, so Foland developed the slighty larger T2 two-seater. (Gnat 1 was armed with 2 30mm cannon and saw combat with the AF i the wars with Pakistan in 1965 and 1971 “This example i 3 Gnat T1 of the Red Arrows 1973.
