Escadre de Chasse 5 provided most Mirage F.1Cs operated in Chad in 1986–1987. As usual since their service entry, all were painted in bluegrey (FS 35164) on top surfaces and sides, and silver on undersurfaces. Except for unit insignia applied on the fin – in this case that of EC.1/5 Vendée – and a few personalized RP.35 drop tanks, no special insignia is known to have been applied on any of these aircraft. Armament consisted of a pair each of Matra Super 530F-1 (on LM.38 underwing pylons) and Matra R.550 Magic Mk.1. Inset is the official patch of EC.1/5, including traditional markings of three of its flights: SPA.26 Cigogne, C.46 Trident and SPA.124 Jeanne d’Arc.
