On 7 and 8 May 1959, Art 349 flew two ‘meteorological flights’ from RAF Watton, Norfolk. The simple ‘Weather Package’ recorded airspeed, altitude, external air temperature and humidity. The flights were really cover for a test of Detachment B’s ability to mount ‘Fast Move’ deployments to remote air bases. The application of false serial numbers was a regular procedure.
