All the helicopters of the Serb Krajina in Croatia were operated by the 56th Helicopter Squadron SVK. This included about a dozen Gazelles and Gazelle Gamas. Because the unit was originally subordinated to the Ministry of the Interior of the Serb Krajina, and because some of the Gazelles were taken from the former police of Yugoslavia, these retained their white and blue livery, depicted here. Rather surprisingly, they also continued wearing the former Yugoslav flag on their fins. A notable addition was the insignia with the inscription ‘Milicija Krajina’ (Krajina Police) in Cyrillic letters, at the base of the boom. Although anything other than well camouflaged, the Gazelles served in this livery during many combat operations, starting with the Serb Operation Koridor 92. Illustrated is the SA.341 c/n 011, formerly RV i PVO 12619: another example, c/n 103, is known to have retained its full ex Yugoslav serial, 12872, applied near the top of the fin.
