The Aichi E13A ‘Jake’ was a long-range reconnaissance aircraft used by the IJNm, which could carry crew of three and a bombload of 250kg (550lbs). Over a dozen were captured from the Japanese: one was operated by the Royal New Zealand Air Force for liaison purposes, while four out of other seven found in working condition, were pressed into service by the squadron 8S of the French Naval Aviation. While some were painted in medium grey overall, this example originally retained the dark green livery on upper surfaces and sides. (Artwork by Jean-Marie Guillou)
