Although the aged Il-28 was principally employed by the Egyptians in training and maritime patrol, they did execute a few nocturnal bombing missions during the War of Attrition. Two bombed near El Arish on the night of 25 April 1970, likely the farthest such mission by the UARAF during this period. However, both of the vulnerable aircraft were shot down by IAF fighters. Aircraft 1748 of the 77th Independent Tactical Bomber Squadron is shown with a collection of the bombs from the period: from left to right are two FAB-250M-46s, one FAB-100M-46, and two FAB-50M-46s.
