| 675-ös tervszámú tengeralattjáró (NATO: Echo II-osztály) |
The Project 675 class (ASCC/NATO codename ‘Echo II’) was a nuclear-powered SSGN, of which 29 were constructed between 1960 and 1967. They displaced 4,415 tons when surfaced and 5,760 tons when submerged: built around two VM-A reactors (70MW each), their powerplant could accelerate them to a speed of 14 knots on the surface, and 22 knots submerged. Original armament included the P-6 weapons system with eight launchers and the capability to deploy both 4K48 (P-6) and 4K95 (P-5) missiles. Radar for fire control was provided by Argument and Uspekh systems. P-6s were eventually replaced by P-500s. Other armament included four 533mm torpedo tubes forward and two 406mm tubes aft. The class received numerous modifications: Project 675K (applied on K-48) was a mid-life upgrade in which batteries were replaced and compartments rearranged; Project 675MK (K-1, K-22, and K-35) added the Kasatka-B satellite targeting system; boats upgraded to the Project 675MKV standard received the Argon-675 firecontrol system and P-1000 missiles; while the K-86 was converted to a frogman carrier. Project 675-class boats made 248 combat patrols (about 55 percent of all the patrols undertaken by SSGNs). (Artwork by Ivan Zajac)
