Geoffrey de Havilland Jnr piloted the prototype Mosquito on its maiden flight at Hatfield on November 25, 1940. Itinitially wore the ‘B Condition’ (‘trade plate’) identity E-0234 before taking up the serial W4050. Today this machine is displayed at its place of birth Salisbury Hall, London Colney; the home of the de Havilland Aircraft Museum. It is the only surviving British World War Two aircraft prototype.
