HEINKEL He 280
Devoid of the four-letter codes that would subsequently adorn either side of its fuselage, He 280 V2 became the world’s first jet fighter to take to the air under its own power on 30 March 1941 at Marienehe. As this three-view clearly shows, the aircraft flew without cowlings fitted to either of its HeS 8 engines.
