The prototype XB-35 took to the air for the first time on June 25,
1946 and made just 18 flights prior to returning to Hawthorne
airfield and being placed in storage on October 7, 1948. It has the
original double propeller arrangement, and the gun turret
positions are faired over. Propeller spinners were fitted for most
flights.
