P-39Q-5-BE ‘Snooks 2nd/Betty Lou 3rd’ as fl own by Lt William A Shomo (later won the Medal of Honour in an F-6D) during the aircraft’s tour of duty with the 110th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron (TRS), 71st Tactical Reconnaissance Group (TRG) in New Guinea. The aircraft is preserved in the Buff alo and Erie County Naval and Serviceman’s Park.
