This PzKpfw II Ausf C profile illustrates the typical German camouflage scheme used by Panzer divisions committed to the invasion of Poland. Consisting of dark grey overall, onto which dark brown spots were spraypainted over roughly one-third of the surface, the tank features the large white crosses that were initially used as ‘nationality symbols’ by the Panzertruppe in the early days of the fighting in Poland. The threedigit identification number applied to the turret indicated the company and platoon to which the vehicle belonged. (Osprey Publishing)
