F-16CJ Fighting Falcon 86-0287 of the 23rd TFS/52nd TFW, Incirlik AB, Turkey, February 1991 -
This Block 30D Fighting Falcon was one of 12 deployed from Spangdahlem to Incirlik just prior to the start of Desert Storm, the aircraft working closely with the unit’s F-4Gs. During the course of the brief campaign, the 23rd completed almost 1,000 defense suppression, CAP and interdiction missions. 86-0287 was marked with 36 “Fighting Falcon” mission symbols just above its cannon muzzle by the end of February 1991. It subsequently participated in no-fly zone operations with the 23rd FS until transferred back to the US in late 1993 for service with the 523rd FS at Cannon AFB.
