ALARM - Newer, smaller and more advanced than the AGM-88B/C, the BAe/Marconi ALARM SEAD weapon was declared operational less than two weeks after the first examples had reached Tabuk AB on the eve of Operation Granby. Although 121 ALARM rounds were fired during the conflict, early
integration issues with the Tornado GR 1 and mixed results due to missiles being launched in corridor suppression mode because of a lack of timely intelligence on SAM locations meant the weapon was not viewed as being as successful in the SEAD mission as HARM.
