CF-101B 101048, No.425 ‘Alouette’ Squadron, CFB Bagotville, Quebec - F-101B 57-0391 served with the 62nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron from K I Sawyer AFB in Michigan until placed into storage at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona in May 1969. In January 1971, it became one of 66 F-101B/Fs transferred to Canada to replace its first batch of Voodoos. The ‘new’ aircraft had lower flying hours and were equipped with the infrared sensor and the enhanced fire control system not installed in the original 66 supplied. It became 101048 with the Canadian Armed Forces and initially served with No.409 ‘Nighthawk’ Squadron from CFB Comox in British Colombia. It later passed to No.425 ‘Alouette’ Squadron, which had received Voodoos in late 1961 at RCAF Namao in Alberta (renamed CFB Edmonton in 1968), initially serving as the operational training unit for the aircraft before relocating to (then RCAF) Bagotville. In 1982 the aircraft was assigned to No.416 All Weather Fighter Squadron at RCAF Chatham in New Brunswick. It was retired in 1984 and became instructional airframe ‘830B’ at CFB Bagotville, before being relegated to the battle damage repair training role.
