Developed from the RT-33 Shooting Star reconnaissance aircraft, the F-94 had a stretched fuselage with Hughes E-5 fire-control system in the top section of the nose, and guns below it, to serve as an interim all-weather interceptor. The rear fuselage was stretched and widened to make space for the more powerful Pratt & Whitney J48 engine for the C and D variants, which offered excellent acceleration, and good manoeuvrability and rate of climb. This F-94B-1-LO, serial number 50-0888, was operated by the 61st Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, which converted to F-94s in 1950 and flew them until 1957. (Artwork by Goran Sudar)
