Lockheed P2V-5F (P-2E) Neptune Bu. No. 124898 US Naval Air Reserve NAS Oakland, California, 1959 - Delivered as a P2V-5, the full history of this Neptune is not known, but in August 1952/t was flying with VP-812 from NAS Whidbey Island and was involved in some kind of mishap off the coast of Washington State. it was noted with VP-29 at Atsugi, Japan in March 1953, where the crew were reportedly involved in a UFO encounter while on a routine ASW patrol. (One of 360 Neptunes converted to P2V-5Fs with the Westinghouse jet pods, it later became ‘one of 11 P2V-5FEs with additional avionics. This variant was redesignated EP-2E in 1962. It was with Oakland's Naval Air Reserve Unit, which flew the Neptune from June 1957 to June 1961. Bu.No. 124898 was struck off charge at Tuscon on 20 April 1968 and stored at MASDC.
