Iran acquired 100 ZSU-23-4s directly from the Soviet Union in 1969. They served with air defence regiments attached to each of the Army’s divisions. All were painted in light olive-green overall, and had national insignia applied on the hull sides. Like other vehicles of the regular Iranian Army, they should have received four-digit serial numbers – applied in black on the hull front and rear – but, sadly, no details of these are known.
