On 22 February 1945 the Staffelkapian of 9.1KG 76 Hptm. Josef Regler set off to attack targets in the Littich, Belgium area, but his ‘Ar 234 was shot down by a Republic P-47 Thunderbolt flown by Lt David B. Fox of the 391st FS, 366th FG. The jet made a belly landing north of Selgersdorf, suffering little damage. Wr Nr. 140173 was later found by British troops and was the first Ar 234 to fall into Allied hands. The engines were removed and taken for evaluation at Farnborough.
