This Ju 88A-4 of KG 3 wears a temporary whi distemper coat to conceal it against the snowy terrain of Russia in late 1942, although this is wearing off in places. Even the Swastika marking has been overpainted. Based near Smolensk, the Geschwader’s 6th Staffel concentrated on train busting, patrolling railways for Soviet troop and supply movements. The unit also used cannon-armed Ju 88C heavy fighters for this role.
