At long last the IDF’s armoured infantry began to get modern APCs to replace Second World War vintage vehicles. The Americans provided the M-113 that had seen action in Vietnam. The Israelis removed the splash shield from the nose, added equipment racks to the sides, and redirected the engine exhaust on the right side from the top of the vehicle to the side via an insulated hose.
