Although Iraq imported 620 BMP-1s during the 1970s, the type was still relatively rare and usually reserved for crack armoured units, like the 10th Armoured Brigade or 3rd Armoured Division. Most vehicles were camouflaged as shown here: in yellow sand overall, with near-vertical stripes of blue-green.
