One of 460 M60A1s acquired by Iran from the US during the 1960s. They wore the same standardised colours and national markings as applied on all other Iranian Army vehicles of that time, though apparently without any hull numbers. Nearly all had a Shi’a call for the 12th Imam painted on their turrets too: this was the Arabic inscription ‘Ya Qaem-e al-e Mohammad’ (meaning ‘I call up you the [still alive] hidden member of the Mohammad’s family’). (Artwork by Radek Panchartek)
