On the suggestion of the Mexican-American advisor Ralph O’Neill, a veteran of the First World War, the Obregón government ordered several Dayton Wright DH.4B combat aircraft. They are known to have been armed with frontal and rear guns, but there is no photographic evidence showing any bomb racks on these aircraft, and their role became that of ‘strafers’. This example, No.8, had a winged devil dropping a bomb painted on the nose. This aircraft was used by Pablo L. Sidar and his gunner to attack the rebel shipping near Puerto México in 1924.
