An MT-LB VM in use by a Don Cossack unit in the LPR, c. 2015. The MT-LB VM was a modernised version of the original MT-LB. In place of the original small conical TKB-01-1 turret mounted with a PKT 7.62mm machinegun, the MT-LB VM was equipped with an NSVT 12.7mm heavy machinegun which could be fired from inside the vehicle. The MT-LB VM was never in service with the Ukrainian armed forces. This particular unit was devoid of identification numbers, common to early LPR armed formations, and was used as a prime mover for towing an MT-12 Rapira anti-tank gun. (Artwork by David Bocquelet)
