The Beechcraft Super E 18S was the civilian variant of a twin-engined trainer and utility aircraft from the late 1930s, better known for its military variants like the AT-11 Kansan or C-45 Expeditor. Production commenced in 1955 and the type saw widespread service in the USA and around the world. One E18S was originally acquired by the Survey Department of the Sri Lankan government, and then taken over by the SLAF. It received the same livery as that applied on Doves, and is known to have been flown for the last time in 1993 – when it was taken over by the Air Force’s Museum. (Artwork by Tom Cooper)
