Lockheed C-130As (shown here is the example with FY-serial number 56-0532 from the 322nd Air Division) were deployed to transport equipment for Operation Fast Move – the deployment exercise to RAF Watton, in October 1959. Many other C-130s of the USAF regularly flew in support of the Agency’s U-2 operations, ferrying equipment – and sometimes transporting exposed mission films – as and when necessary. For most of the 1950s and well into the 1960s, the entire fleet was operated in bare metal overall livery, with most of the fin and parts of the rear fuselage in day-glo orange.
