Starting with Operation Épervier the French Air Force began running regular detachments of Dassault Mirage F.1C interceptors at Bangui International and at N’Djamena International. Contrary to the Jaguars, the F.1Cs retained their standard camouflage pattern in blue grey (FS35164) on upper surfaces and sides, and aluminium on undersurfaces. The example illustrated (serial number 246) was drawn from the EC.2/5 Ile de France and deployed at Bangui International in 1986, and again in 1989 – while armed with Matra Super 530F medium-range air-to-air missiles (inset), and Matra R.500 Magic Mk.I short-range air-to-air missiles, in addition to its two 30mm DEFA cannons installed internally.
