The last outing for British Centurions was as the AVRE. Several 165mm-armed versions deployed to the Gulf, much up-armoured with ERA, where they were affectionately referred to as the ‘Antiques Road Show’ after a well-known BBC TV programme. Two were lost to engine fires in the build-up to war, but none were lost to enemy action. (Artwork by David Bocquelet)
