The FV433 Abbot was a 105mm self-propelled howitzer sharing many automotive components with the FV432 family. First introduced in the mid- 1960s, it was often used to provide close indirect fire support to battlegroups. Normal ammunition loads consisted of high explosive and smoke, but HESH was also carried for direct fire (though this was not the normal modus operandi). Unlike most British armoured vehicles of this era, this Abbot does not wear the usual 1/3rd black camouflage. (Artwork by David Bocquelet)
