A reconstruction of one of eight A-7Es from VA-46 Clansmen known to have supported USAF raids on Tripoli during the night of 14/15 April 1986. As usual at the time, it was painted in the so-called ‘tactical paint scheme’ (TPS) consisting of Dark Ghost Gray (FS 36320) on upper surfaces and sides, over Light Ghost Gray (FS36375) on undersurfaces. After several weeks of intensive operations off Libya, in late March 1986, the TPS began showing the usual signs of wear. The aircraft is illustrated as configured during Operation El Dorado Canyon, armed with four AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missiles and a pair of AIM-9L Sidewinders for self-defence.
