The most important fighter-bomber of the UARAF in June 1967 was the MiG-21F-13: the service had received nearly 60 by this time, of which 46 were assigned to three operational units (Nos. 45, 47 and 49 Squadrons), and eight served with the Fighter Training Unit. All wore the same ‘silver grey’ overall livery, together with the standard set of national insignia and identification stripes. Relatively small serial numbers in the range 5001–5299 were applied in black on the forward fuselage. Their primary armament consisted of a single 30mm gun installed internally, and a pair of R-3S air-to-air missiles, as illustrated in this example that was probably assigned to No. 45 Squadron and destroyed in the first minutes of the June 1967 Arab-Israeli War.
