This is a reconstruction of the only Zero confirmed as test-flown by the French, who proved impressed by the type. It remains unclear if the aircraft was over painted in dark green overall, as many of airframes test-flown by the ATAIU-SEA were, but it seems that its under surfaces were left in caramel colour. French national insignia was applied instead of the Royal Air Force and the French flag applied atop of the fin, above the ATAIU title in white. (Artwork by Jean-Marie Guillou)
