The Mitsubishi G4M ‘Betty’ was IJNAF’s most renowned torpedo-bomber. This twin-engined aircraft was responsible for sinking HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse on 10 December 1941. This example of the 13th Koku Kantai Yuso-tai was amongst a total of about 64 IJAAF and IJNAF aircraft collected by the ATAIU-SEA, and prepared for shipment to the UK for flight-testing. Due to the lack of shipping space, only four actually reached Great Britain: a number were donated to the French once the ATAIU-SEA was disbanded at Seletar AB in Singapore on 15 May 1946. AdA flew them as transports. (Artwork by Jean-Marie Guillou)
