As of 1932, this Renault FT-17 light tank was one of only three surviving examples out of 12 acquired by Brazil in 1921. One of these was equipped with a cast Berlier turret and a 37mm Puteaux cannon, shown here, while the two others had an octagonal turret made by Renault, equipped with one Hotchkiss 7mm machine gun. They formed a section of the Federal forces, deployed in the Sierra de Mantiqueira area (covered in the Volume 1). (Artwork by David Bocquelet)
