As described in the Volume 1, Dassault MD.450 Ouragans were originally acquired to serve both as fighter-bombers and interceptors. This example was delivered on 24 January 1974, and received the serial number 702, but its original construction number remains unknown. Nicknamed the ‘Planeta’, all the Ouragans served with the Escuadrón Caza y Bombardeo of the Grupo de Combate, homebased at Ilopango. It was foremost piloted by Lieutenant Roberto Leiva (chief technician was Aristides Flores), and is shown in colours as of 1979 and armed with an Israeli-made Shafrir Mk. II air-to-air missile. Insert shows a typical configuration for ground attack, including two pods for unguided rockets calibre 68mm. ‘702’ was written off on 27 January 1992. (Artwork by Luca Canossa)
